Olivia Rae Maddox

She is HERE! A Leap Year Baby!!!

Olivia was born today at 11:46 am this morning at Gwinnett Medical. I was 38 weeks and 3 days and 6 days short of my scheduled c-section.

My water broke at 6am this morning. We took Grace to our friends Phil and Jennifer. My parents drove in from the lake and Aunt Carrie drove in from South Carolina. Both got here in time for the delivery.

Olivia is a big baby 9lbs 1oz and 20 1/2 inches long. She has tons of dark hair especially on the back of her head.

We are hoping Grace will be making it up this afternoon to visit.

My last pregnancy picture...taken right before we left the house. Notice the unfinished floors.

Getting ready for surgery.
I'll save you the birthing pictures so I'll go right to the scales. What a chunker, good thing she didn't have another week to grow.

Picture with Dr. Fountain. He did a great job, I have such a wonderful doctor.

Proud grandparents of third grandchild.

More pictures coming soon!

Grace meeting a new friend

Today I was able to meet up with a friend from college, Ginny K. (It is not Ginny with a K any more but she will always be Ginny K to me.) We haven't seen each other in five to seven years but it felt like just yesterday when we were hanging out. We both have little girls that are two months apart and are now both pregnant, these babies being two months apart also. It was so neat hanging out together at the mall and enjoying lunch together. I hope it is not another five years!!!

How funny is it that we both have on matching shirts?

Grace and Abby

Grace loved this pig, she cried when any other kid tried to get on it.

Just in case you are counting with me....only seven more days till Olivia is here!!!!!

The progress of our floors

The floors are coming along and they are so pretty. Grace and I have spent the last three days at Maw Maw's during the day so we can stay out of the way. I will post more when it is completely done...which will hopefully be this weekend.

The clean slate starting on Monday morning...
It is starting to look good...we have a few feet of kitchen and den left, part hallways, trim and then cleaning of the floor!

Concord Tournament

This weekend was a full soccer weekend. Chad's U12 boys played in a tournament in Tucker. The boys did a great job and won their division in shoot outs. It was a very exciting game. These boys are so neat and each have such a great personality. It has been a real blessing to be able to watch them grow and to make relationships with them and their parents.
AND Grace loves her boys...in this picture she is running to be part of their winning chant!
Grace is sporting the hardware!
With the weather being so nasty on Thursday and Friday I dressed Grace in unimportant blue jeans. Then I let her go and play with the other kids in the mud. She had a blast, but man did she get dirty!

Do you like the new layout on the blog? I found a college girl who made the header and page. She did such a great job!

Our little helper

Grace continues to amaze me and show me how much a two year old watches and takes in. On Friday she decided that she needed to help me shred chicken. Not thinking she had a clue what I was doing I gave her a small piece of chicken and a bowl. The girl shredded chicken! She stayed at the table with me for at least twenty minutes working with me and asking for more chicken. I didn't use her chicken in the soup...something about a two years hands, even if it is my own child's...grosses me out. BUT was a big helper!
And here she is again helping, but this time with daddy. She is pulling up our kitchen floor. Yes many think I am crazy taking on such a big project with Olivia coming in just a week and a half. We, well really Chad, pulled up floors this weekend and hardwoods are being put down this week in our kitchen, den, living room, foyer, two closets and two hallways. I can't wait to see the finished project!

Our other two little helpers were Learoy and Phil. We are so thankful to them for coming out and helping pull up old hardwood and carpet!

The end of the road

With this pregnancy coming to an end in just two weeks and two days (but who is counting) we took some pictures of Grace with the soon to be Olivia or you may say with my belly.

This picture makes me laugh. It looks like she is looking into my belly button trying to catch a view of the baby.

Big Apple Circus

We took Grace to her first circus experience. We went to the one ring Big Apple Circus at Stone Mountain Park. It is so neat to experience activities like this for the first time with Grace. She was mesmerized, apprehensive and excited all at the same time. The show lasted two hours and she was awesome, she didn't get restless until the last ten minutes of the last act. She loved eating popcorn and drinking Coke. What a treat!!!
This is the look she had most the time, with her lip tucked in.

If you asked Grace what her favorite part was she will tell you horses. They actually made me very nervous. I just kept thinking, "What if one of them gets upset and just starts charging the audience?". I guess Grace didn't have that thought.

Happy Valentines Day! more pictures

This morning Grace and I woke to this beautiful bouquet of candy! Who needs flowers when you have "nandy"!

Grace was so excited, so of course we had candy for breakfast.
Grace spent time this morning making valentine's for family.
This is how you will see Grace most of the day. Always with her baby.

Daddy brought home Valentine surprises last night!! Grace and I both got a rose and a present. Below is a picture a of Grace opening her gift. I love it because dad had no idea what a mess she would make with the shredded paper.

Look at that expression! Doll baby clothes.
She also got a necklace set, a harmonica, and a new movie!
Look what mommy got!!! Pretty cool! All three of us had fun playing. (Don't worry Chad got a present too, it just wasn't as cool.)

The season began...

Soccer season began! This past weekend we had our first soccer tournament for the spring season. Grace was a trouper as always. We have graduated from a stroller and she now just sits in her own big girl chair. Not to say when Olivia comes she won't be strapped back into the double stroller but for now it is working.

Look at those eyes! Can you tell she had a late night the night before?
It is so hard to find cute little girls soccer shirts so I decided to make my own. I was very proud of myself and the way it turned out!Grace and her friend Cory hanging out, enjoying candy together.

TWENTY THREE days until Olivia is here. Today is my last day keeping kids so it really is starting to feel like it is coming soon. List of items to be packed are being made and car seats are being put back together in the car for a newborn. The time is coming soon!
