Yellow River Game Ranch

Today Grace, Maw Maw and I met Erin, her mommy, her grandma, and her aunt Cindy at the Yellow River Game Ranch. What a cool place! I have lived by it for years and never realized all the animals that were back there. The deer were so neat. They would walk right up to you looking for something to eat. It was a great morning!!!

Big weekend and week

This weekend Grace had her friend Erin over to play and spend the night. (Really Erin's mom Robyn was helping her family move so I offered for Erin to hand out...it was just fun to say it "Grace had a friend over".) On Saturday evening we when to a church cookout. And on Sunday we all went to church.

Last night started The Orchard's VBC. It is so nice to be able to go help but not actually be in charge. It was a blast last night. But I'm sure it will be a long week ahead of us.

Summer Evenings

There is nothing better then being in a diaper, eating a popsicle and hanging out with a friend.

another first

Grace's first time in an advertisement. Isn't it cool? It's not the best quality on the blog because I scanned it in.

firsts

I read a children book recently titled "Let me Hold you Longer" by Karen Kingsbury. It is a book that reminds you to not just old on to all the first (first steps, first words...) but the "lasts" as well. Which made me start to think. (I know, I had to start thinking at some point in my life right.) Do we really see all the first our kids do? It is so nice to have a little child and to see the world again through her eyes. To see new animals, the moon, the ocean, new people, new colors... To see the excitement in their eyes and to see all that God has created.

At this point in Grace's life it is hard to see all her lasts, even though I know there are some. The last time she took a bottle, the last time I could cradle her in my arms, the last coo, the last time she tumbled over from trying to sit up, the last time she spit up. But I can watch out and look for all those first...

Hilton Head Island

We just got back from a week of the beach. We met Maw Maw, Paw Pa, Aunt Carrie, Uncle Eric and Hudson at HHI. We stayed in a house on the beach with our own pool. It was so nice to have a pool to be at while the babies took naps.

Grace loved the sand. She would dig in it, draw in it, sit in it, eat a little of it, and knock down anything you built with it. She was not too sure of the ocean. The first day she did not want anything to do with the water. By the last day she would hold your hand and walk out to about her knees.
The big kids liked playing too.
Hudson was so cute and trying to walk everywhere. Carrie brought a push toy down to the beach and he thought he was hot stuff walking everywhere. Hudson had NO FEAR of the water and would go in as far as you let him.
Grace enjoyed the attention of having her Maw Maw and Paw Pa with her each day. I think she might just go through withdrawls this week, Grace is already asking for Paw Pa.
We went out to eat several nights. It was fun to dress the babies and eat some seafood. Grace was not the best dining out baby...I am hoping that stage passes fast.
I would have to say that this beach vacation ranked top three on my last.

True Girl

It is amazing what they pick up on just by watching you.
I guess Grace see me talk on the phone a little too much.

I pulled out this stroller from the attic. It was mine when I was younger. As soon as I got it down she put a baby in the buggy and a purse on her shoulder. Too Cute!

Laser Show

On Sunday night we took the middle school youth to Stone Mountain Park to watch the laser show. We got to the park a couple hours early to have a picnic and play on the lawn. Grace had a really good time hanging out and eating everybodies junk food. Once the laser show started she took turns sitting in our laps and watching the show until she fell asleep.

Close your eyes and don't watch...this is why I have grey hairs.
